Former Alabama Standout Eddie Jackson Finds New Home with Ravens
Ravens bolster defense with addition of free agent safety
Jackson brings versatility and playmaking ability to Baltimore
Former Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens. The veteran defensive back brings a wealth of experience and playmaking ability to the Ravens' secondary.
Jackson, who turns 29 in December, has been a key contributor for the Bears since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He has recorded 278 tackles, 19 interceptions, 40 pass breakups, and 6 forced fumbles in his career.
In 2021, Jackson had one of his best seasons, totaling 4 interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles. He also recorded his third career pick-six, returning it 55 yards for a touchdown.
Jackson is known for his versatility and ability to play multiple positions in the secondary. He can line up at free safety, strong safety, or slot corner.
The Ravens are hoping that Jackson can help them improve a defense that struggled in 2021. Baltimore finished 27th in the NFL in scoring defense and 29th in passing yards allowed.
Jackson becomes the fourth former Alabama standout on the Ravens roster, joining running back Derrick Henry, wide receiver Marlon Humphrey, and defensive end Calais Campbell.
Jackson is expected to play a significant role for the Ravens in 2022. He will likely start at free safety alongside Chuck Clark, who is coming off a Pro Bowl season.
The Ravens are excited to have Jackson on their team, and they believe he can be a key part of their defense for years to come.
